Introducing: Kerastase Blond Absolu

There’s no need to tell you how much we love Kerastase - and we’re sure that those of you that are already on the Kerastase train also know how great it is. Well, we thought we’d let you in on the secret… they’re releasing a brand new range next week. And blondies, rejoice because this new range is just for you!

Blond Absolu is the first dedicated hair care range for blonde hair from the French brand. The range as a whole will hydrate sensitised hair, protect it from oxidation, neutralise brassiness and boost colour luminosity - making sure that you have bright blonde locks that don't have any unwanted yellow tones.

If you’ve used Kerastase before, you’ll probably be familiar with their lineup of ‘bain’, ‘fondant’ and ‘masque’. While they do make an appearance in this range, there are a few different things going on so we thought we’d break it down for you ahead of the range’s release so you can decide what you need.

Bain Ultra-Violet

Every blonde needs a good purple shampoo in his or her life, and thank God that Kerastase has just delivered. This is their version of an incredibly powerful purple toning shampoo which acts to instantly remove that gross yellow colour and brassy tones. From early online reviews of the products, everyone seems to be loving it. Apart from just working its magic for blondes, the violet pigment also great if your hair is lightened - think blonde highlights - and you need to get rid of any unwanted warmth.

We probably don’t need to tell you how to use shampoo but with this purple shampoo, we’d recommend wetting your hair, then thoroughly removing excess water before applying a coin sized amount of shampoo to your hair. Add water slowly and lather it up. Leave it for 2-5 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.

Bain Lumiere

So this is what we meant by the difference in line up - there’s actually a second shampoo in the range! As our coloured hair gals know, it’s always good to switch it up between a true purple shampoo and for a more deep cleaning and hydrating option. This is where Bain Lumiere comes into the picture with its deep hydrating agents. It acts to hydrate the fibres and gently detoxify the hair from any pollution, free-radials and dulling agents that might affect the colour of your hair.

Similar to the process above for the Bain Ultra-Violet, apply a small amount to wet hair that has had excess water removed. Use your finger tips to massage the scalp and remove impurities then rinse thoroughly. Apply another small about to your hair - you’ll notice that there will be more foam this time because you’ve removed all the impurities and this will help cleanse right through to the ends of the hair. Rinse thoroughly again.

Tip: We’d recommend switching between the Ultra-Violet and the Lumiere on a weekly basis or use the Lumiere when you feel like your hair needs a true deep clean.

Cicaflash

While we love a good shampoo, the Cicaflash is probably the most exciting part of this new range. Instead of being just another conditioner, it’s the ultimate hybrid that acts like a super mask with the lightweight finish of a conditioner. They’re calling it a super shot of hair care!

Simply apply a small amount to washed hair that’s been towel dried and leave for 2-3 minutes before rinsing it out. It acts as an instant deep fibre repair meaning less breakage, a lasting shield against daily erosions as well as deep moisturising of the hair strands - without weighing it down. It’s a little miracle worker.

Masque Ultra-Violet

The question we often get asked is ‘do you really need a mask if you’re already using conditioner?’ The answer is yas. We’ve talked about

how important hair treatments are because they have more active and restorative ingredients that can actually repair your hair from within. The Masque Ultra-Violet is filled with Hyaluronic Acid that heals any wounds in the hair fibre and strengthens the hair to prevent breakage in the long term.

Along with the rest of the range, the masque also includes edelweiss flower which is full of antioxidants to protect your hair from every day damage and visibly softens the hair as well. Plus it has ultraviolet neutralises to double down on removing those brassy and yellow undertones.

Tip: With the masque, we’d recommend using it 1-2 times per week. Simply apply to washed and towel dried hair, massage it into your hair and especially the ends, leave for 5 minutes then rinse thoroughly.

Cicaplasme

On the days where you aren’t using the masque, the Cicaplasme is the answer to smooth hair. Instead of a wash out treatment, you can leave it in and go. A massive plus for us is that it also actuals as a heat protectant so it’s perfect for when you’re planning to go out. The lavender coloured cream treatment offers instant fibre healing, seals your split ends and helps with fibre regeneration as well.

Apply to towel dried hair after a shower, then just blow and/or straighten to your heart’s desire. It’s restorative nature is working to heal from within but you’ll see visibly shinier hair as well.

Now we’re not saying that you need all of these products but they all work towards giving your healthier blonde hair. We know how expensive it is to maintain that lighter, icy blonde shades and highlighted colour so why not invest in a routine that will prolong your hair health between salon visits? Kerastase works hard for hair and they’re all about creating a specialised product that you know will generate results.

The range doesn't arrive until mid-April but you can pre-order Kerastase Absolu Blond on Oz Hair & Beauty now and get ready to see results. Don’t forget we’ve also got Afterpay! Did you love this post? There's much more where that came from! Read all about the best hair texturising products, a hair toner that turns your hair pink and the best hair mask!
