Our Top 4 Fashion Week Hairstyles & How To Get Them
1. New York Fashion Week #1 - Carolina Herrera
The Carolina Herrera show in New York was bold, vibrant and colourful, which called for a simpler hairstyle to match. Though this sleek do is less on the ‘everyday hair’ side of things, it is one you can wear to a cocktail party or formal event.
Hinting towards the “wet look”, this Fashion Week hairstyle pays homage to that fresh out the shower style. When our hair is combed back and looking slick, you are basically half way there already. Here’s how to do it.
What you need:
How to style it:
- Start with clean, dry hair.
- Using your fingers, create a side part in your hair.
- Apply about a palm sized amount of the Redken Guts 10 to the crown of your head for volume and hold, and work it down towards the back of your ears.
- Using your fingers again, comb your hair towards the back of your head on either side of your part, spritzing Redken Triple Pure 32 Hairspray as you go to hold the look without crunch.
- Work your hair into your desired look and once achieved, allow your hair to set.
- Optional - at this point you may add some waves into the lengths of your hair using a curling iron for added texture, however you can also leave your natural texture as it is.
- Once your hair has fully set, spritz some Redken Shine Flash 02 over the top of your head for a glossy, wet appearance.
2. New York Fashion Week #2 - Ralph Lauren
The Ralph Lauren show in New York opted for one of our favourite hair trends - beachy waves. This iconic style offers effortless looking curls that tribute that fresh out of the ocean look. However, when you don’t always have access to the sea, it’s not always as easy to recreate this Fashion Week hairstyle.
The key to beachy waves is texture, which means you need the right products on your side to really make it work. Beachy waves are wearable for so many occasions. Whether its everyday chic or for a cocktail look, these waves can be dressed up or down, which is why we love them so much. Here’s how we like to do it.
What you need:
How to style it:
- Ideally start with second day hair, as this will provide a nice textured base to work with.
- Brush out hair and apply some of the Redken Dry Shampoo Powder 02 at the roots of your hair, working it in with your fingers until absorbed.
- Next divide hair into 2-3 layers (depending on hair thickness) and start curling using a 32-19mm curling wand. Curl each section in alternate sections, some tighter than others for a natural messy look.
- Don’t brush out the curls straight away - let them sit until all hair is curled, however as each layer is done, spritz some of the Redken Volume Guts 10.
- Once entire head it curled, brush hair out with your fingers, lifting hair and spritzing more Volume guts as you go.
- Spray hair with the Redken Fashion Waves 07 Sea Salt Spray for some added texture by lifting and brush out some more with your fingers.
- Finish by creating a slight side part with your fingers and flipping hair around for some air and to create messy volume. Spray some more Volume Guts for hold as desired.
